Sands of Time
Like leaves falling on an Autumn day,
Like a breeze blowing in the middle of May.
You came to me in an unexpected way,
Completed my life, made me happy and gay.
But like grains of sand in my small fingers,
Even with hands open or fingers closed.
You're slowly fading, doesn't want to linger
Leaving me raw, and my heart exposed.
It hurts to see you slipping away.
With each day passing, I see you going astray.
But it's more painful now because,
much to my dismay,
I know, you were never really mine anyway.
